Reading Notes: Divine Archer

This week I am reading the Divine Archer by F.J. Gould.

  •  To be honest, this reading does not seem any different than our last week’s reading for part B. Although I have enjoyed refreshing my memory of the tales in this section, I am not super happy that we have had to reread the stories. I am aware we had a movie we could watch, but I don’t have quite that much time to designate to the class this week.

  • I may do something with Hanuman because I do enjoy him as a character as well as utilizing some of the Indian culture. I will try to use more of the cultural references throughout the story this week. Having had the chance to reread some of the tales throughout the Ramayana I have been able to pull out a few more details that I will hopefully be able to use in my retelling.

  •  I particularly like the parts of the Ramayana that have the gods and goddesses involved. I can use these perhaps as like a narrator or older figure in the stories, rather than just a mythical being. I like trying to recreate the stories in unique ways that would surprise people. Although, making them recognizable is also an important aspect of these assignments. I am hoping to have a good blend of these aspects in my story this week.

  •   I am going to work on my Author’s note this week in particular to make sure that I am able to explain everything that I am trying to accomplish and get across. I am also wanting to continue to learn more about the Indian culture so that I can do a better job of explaining it in the Author’s note. I think that will be the greatest challenge throughout the semester.
